The Assam Tribune, Jorhat, 18th January: The District Administration of Jorhat celebrated Silpi Divas on 17th January 2019 at the District Library auditorium to pay tribute to the legendary Assamese cultural figure Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.
The programme commenced with floral tributes, followed by soulful songs, vibrant dances, and a short drama inspired by Agarwala’s works. Students from different schools took part in events such as recitation, painting and essay competitions. Eminent speakers discussed his influence on Assamese literature, music, theatre and cinema. The Chief Guest addressed the audience, urging students to carry forward Agarwala’s legacy of cultural pride and creativity.
The event witnessed huge participation and a packed auditorium, reflecting people’s deep admiration for the cultural icon. The administration promised to promote such cultural awareness through regular celebrations.
