Guwahati, 8th August: In a shocking incident, four coaches of the B.G. Express derailed near Kamakhya station today at around 6:30 AM. The sudden derailment caused panic among the passengers, some of whom sustained injuries.
Rescue operations began immediately. Medical teams and police arrived within minutes and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Local residents also lent a helping hand in rescuing passengers. Train services on the route were suspended for several hours.
A technical fault is suspected to be the reason behind the accident. A detailed investigation has been initiated by the railway authorities. Senior officials visited the site and assured the public that strict measures would be taken to enhance safety and prevent such mishaps in the future.
